The plan:

PART 1: Buck Gully Reserve, The trail we’ll be hiking in the Buck Gully Reserve is about 5 mile’s out and back (approx 2 hrs) starting from the Poppy Ave entrance gate in Corona del Mar ……
Park near the corner of 5th & Poppy in C.D.M. use address of 740 Poppy.

Buck Gully trail map:

We’ll be out hiking in a beautiful, lush gully that mostly follows a 365 day-a-year stream. The trail has been improved with aluminum bridges over the stream, so you don’t have to worry about stream-crossings and getting your feet wet. It’s usually pretty shaded lower in the gully, but don’t forget sunscreen protection for the exposed areas.

Corona Del Mar Beach
If interested (after Buck Gully hike), anyyone is welcome to join me for a hour or so and 2+ miles at the beach, incorporating some stairs and ramps for a little more cardio, some awesome sea caves, and perfect scenery’s of my favorite o.c. beach.
Starting our adventure at “Lookout Point” use address: 2900 Ocean blvd. in Newport Beach. We will go down to the beach and up the disapearing path to top of bluff and then on to “Little Corona Beach”
From Little Corona we will backtrack to inspiration point and down the disapearing path to the beach and over to the Jetty and up the rocks or the stairs to Lookout Point, then using more stairs and ramps to “Pirates Cove” and “China Cove”, and finishing our trek at “Lookout Point”

We share the trails with mountain bikers so always be aware of them speeding down the hills towards us.
And IF they are going too fast? join me by yelling at them to “SLOW DOWN” !!! …. For your safety.

Bring enough water, snacks, and sun protective clothing for yourself, Don’t forget your grippy shoes.

In consideration of hikers on wait list, IF something comes up and you can’t make it? please edit your r.s.v.p. to “not going” a.s.a.p.

Go time: 8:am sharp
Distance: 5+ mi. at Buck Gully, 2+ mi. at CDM Beach
Duration: 3 hrs.
Elev. g/l:[masked] ft.

We hike together as a group and go at a moderate pace. “No Road Runners or Turtles please” We will wait at trail junctures and at top of hills to ensure “No hiker will be left behind”
