Difficulty: This hike is moderately challenging, with some uphill climbs over varied terrain. If you can walk at least 6 miles in under 2 hours, you should be able to do this hike.
Pace: – About 20 minutes/mile
Distance: About 5 miles.
Elevation Gain: About 700 feet.

Description: We will head up (left on) Pacific (No Name) Ridge, directly across the street from the rest room meeting spot, and turn right on Bommer trail. These are nice big, wide, well groomed dirt maintenance roads. We will then take Fence Line/Missing Link — a narrow single-track trail — until it ends at Moro Ridge and turn left, heading back up to Bommer. Turning right on Bommer, we will proceed about a half-mile and turn left on Willow trail, with another immediate left on Laurel Spur, descending down into Laurel Canyon. We will turn left at Lizard Trail — another scenic single-track trail — for a gradual climb back up to Bommer, turn right, and head back to our starting point.

See the Photos section for a detailed route map.

Sometimes we may see some wildlife: quail, hawks, roadrunners, bunny wabbits, and if we are very lucky, maybe a snake or a tarantula.

Facilities: We start the hike at the rest rooms in Coastal Peak Park. All of the other rest rooms on this hike are disguised as bushes….

What to bring: Water and snacks, sunglasses, sturdy hiking shoes, maybe hiking poles if you have them, a hat or umbrella for sun protection, a happy attitude and a big smile!
